StasIASC is proud to announce that Dr. Armina Soleymani will be joining the IASC team as IASC Fellowship Coordinator. In this role, Armina will be leading the many tasks necessary to support and continue the success of the IASC Fellowship Program. The IASC Fellowship Program  provides the opportunity for early career scientists to become involved in leading-edge scientific activities at a circumarctic and international level, to build an international network, and also to develop management skills. The Fellowship Coordinator is responsible for leading recruitment, organization, community-building, and mentorship for the IASC Fellows.

Armina is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Earth Observation Science at the University of Manitoba and Vice-President of the Postdoctoral Fellow Association. She is also a sessional lecturer at both the University of Manitoba and the University of Toronto. She earned her PhD in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Her interdisciplinary research interests include sea ice, remote sensing, climate modeling, machine learning, geospatial statistics, and environmental risk assessment. During her PhD, Armina received an award for excellence in developing stochastic and statistical methods for environmental engineering. She is also an IASC Cryosphere Fellow (2023–2024), ICARP IV team member, and IPICS 2026 Organizing Committee member. In 2025, Armina received two Outstanding Reviewer Awards and was recognized as a Certified Trusted Reviewer, reflecting her commitment to academic service and science communication

IASC would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank outgoing Fellowship Coordinator Dr. Stanislav (Stas) Ksenofontov for his enthusiastic and impactful service in the role. Best wishes on your next endeavors, Stas!
