This is a brief meeting report from the AMAP Climate Expert Group tele-meeting, 20-23 April 2020. The purpose of this meeting was discussion of contents to be included in the AMAP 2021 report, timeline, and inputs from other participants besides lead authors.
The tele-meeting was concentrated on the key items for the upcoming AMAP 2021 climate report with presentations and discussions of each of the six chapters on the first day. Cross-communication among the chapters was on the 2nd day. A discussion of key messages and outreach and communication suggestions for the report was also carried on the 2nd day. On the 3rd day, the group covered the developing future work of the group, particularly the assessment of ecosystem impacts of climate change with CAFF (Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna Working Group of the Arctic Council) and the assessment of societal impacts of climate change.
Rapid changes in the Arctic is one of the strongest climate change signal observed in our planet. As evidenced by the broad scope of this assessment, the Arctic science community is increasingly interested in system-wide ecosystem impacts in building a better understanding of the future of the Arctic.
